I know I haven't posted in a while, but I just wrote this somewhere else, and it's something that's been bothering me for years now...
The people on this campus constantly berate and make fun of a floor full of some of the nicest guys you could ever meet. They're all too shallow and too set in their beliefs to actually *talk* to any of them. You want to make fun of 41? Fine. But do it *after* you know them. (And "knowing" them means actually having real conversations with them and get to know who they are as individuals, and that can't happen if every word out of your mouth is dripping with sarcasm and disdain.) If you don't know them, then you have *no right* to say anything what so ever against them. And you'd just be continuing to spread the stereotype that hasn't been true in years, if it was ever true.
What ever happened to the commmand to love one another? How can we, as a campus, be a witness to a world outside, when we're so divided inside and so intent on making fun of the other Chrisitans here just to make ourselves feel/look better to the rest of the people here?
"Therefore be IMITATORS of God, as beloved children; and walk in LOVE, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us as an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma." -Ephesians 5:1-2
Are your words berating people you don't even know, walking in love? Is that how you portray God to the people around you? I hope not.
Maybe next time, before you start agreeing with the person next to you who's ranting about another floor, why don't you ask them if they truly know them? And why don't you just stop for a second and ask youself if you, who claim to be a follower and an imitator of God, honestly want to be making fun of God's children that way? They're your brothers and sisters. Why can't you remember that?
