i desperately need to get out of longview... i'm *so* tired and drained and just.. want to leave... i would love to go spend another week in destin on the beach.. . that was extrememly happy. although right now, i'd even settle for a day at six flags. w/ a snow cone. as long as i'm outside in the sun and around people and have a snowcone, i'm happy.

i keep remembering spending a week in tennessee w/ ranita's family. wading in the stream behind the campground, losing flip flops when i fell off the hill next to the stream and they ended up in the water going downstream, wading over to the playground that was at the end of an adjoining stream, the intoxicatingly beautiful scenery, sitting outside at night being eaten alive by mosquitoes listening to this guy from africa play israel's national anthem on the piano by ear, like he played everything that he'd heard even just once. that week was so fun. just being somewhere different. and being outside.

or playing volleyball in someone's back yard for *hours* in the dark at teddy's going away party. (or for that matter playing sand volleyball the first week i was on campus freshmen year w/ a group of guys i'd never met - that was one of the best times i've ever had on campus). or the water fights we'd have at bekah's house every year around the 4th..

or sitting on the beach at destin in the mornings reading before it got hot out, and then making (my first ) sandcastle and just having fun playing in the water and walking down the beach at night.. . or walking on the beach in CA at night...

i wish i was still 7 and could entertain myself alone outside for hours on end... but i'm no good at that anymore..

i just... want to be around people.. and be outside for an extended period of time... and a snow cone.

that's it. i have to move back into the dorm in two and a half weeks, and have very little summer left once you take work and packing out of that. and i would dearly love to do anything other than sitting at home and watching (albeit anticipated and highly wonderful) dvds of the pretender.

even if it's just six flags...
